Tympanoplasty is a surgical procedure performed to repair damage to the eardrum and middle ear. This surgery is usually performed in cases of chronic middle ear infections, eardrum perforations, or osteoporosis in the middle ear. Tympanoplasty can correct hearing loss and reduce the risk of infection. During the procedure, damaged tissue is removed and replaced with a graft taken from the patient's own tissue. The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and usually requires a one-day hospital stay. After the surgery, mild pain and dizziness may occur for a while in the ear. Full recovery may take several weeks.
